Since May 1987
I was born in New York City, NY. After graduating from high school, I enrolled in the Delahanty Institute, an automotive school specializing in all aspects of the automobile. After completing all courses at the Delahanty Institute, my family decided to move to Los Angeles, CA.
My first employment was with a Cadillac dealership in Glendale, CA, called Modern Motor. While employed at Modern Motors, I was drafted into the military and served in the Vietnam War. After returning from the Vietnam War, I worked at Modern Motors for another 3 years where I met my wife of 41 years, Linda. Linda and I decided to move to Portland, Oregon to have a family.
I started working for Kuni Cadillac, a Portland area Cadillac dealership, when we relocated to Portland, Oregon. I worked for 16 years at Kuni Cadillac. I started as a technician and worked up to quality control manager, assistant service manager and then to service manager. In 1987, I decided to apply at the new Acura dealership on Canyon Road, called Ron Tonkin Acura, as their service manager.
Through the last 21 years we have accomplished great things at Ron Tonkin Acura. The dealership is known throughout the country for its customer-focused environment and 19-time Precision Team winner that we share with only one other dealer in the country. We are all so proud of the achievement.
I enjoy spending time with family members including my 14 grandchildren. I also enjoy working around the woods, cutting wood and riding my tractor.

As a born and raised Oregonian I take pride in working for a local company. I have worked in the automotive industry for over 20 years. During that time I have worked hard to gain and maintain the training needed to offer the highest level of customer service possible. As a 10 year master service advisor with Volkswagen I was honored to be able to transfer those skills to the Tonkin family when I started working for Ron Tonkin Acura in October 2011. I am pleased to be working for a company and with a team that puts the highest importance on customer service.
In my spare time, I enjoy working on a large variety of charity events with the Gateway Elks Lodge and spending time with family and friends BBQ'ing and camping.
Since September 2002
I have been working at Ron Tonkin Acura for over 9 years. I started in the car business 12 years ago in Los Angeles, CA. I began in the sales department and transferred to the service department a year later.
I won the National Championship for Acura Service Consultants in early 2011. This was the first service competition conducted by Acura. All service advisors across their network of dealerships in the United States were eligible. It was a tough competition and an honor to win.
In my spare time, I enjoy riding motorcycles and taking cruises to different parts of the world.
